Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2, 2026

1. Overview

FetchWhois is designed with privacy in mind. We do not sell your data or build profiles on our users. This policy explains what limited information we may collect and how it is used.

2. Information We Collect

Domain Queries

When you perform a WHOIS lookup, the domain name you enter is transmitted to the relevant authoritative RDAP server to retrieve registration data. We do not permanently store your search queries in any database.

Server Logs

Like most web services, our hosting infrastructure may retain standard web server logs (IP address, request path, timestamp, HTTP status code) for a limited period for security and operational purposes. These logs are not used for marketing or sold to third parties.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, in production to understand aggregate traffic patterns such as page views, approximate country of origin, device type, and referral source. Google Analytics sets cookies and may collect your IP address and usage data to generate these reports. We do not intentionally send any personally identifiable information to Google Analytics, and we do not use it for advertising or remarketing. Google may process this data in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

3. Cookies

FetchWhois itself does not set any first-party cookies. Google Analytics may set third-party cookies as described above. You can control cookies through your browser settings at any time.

4. Third-Party Services

When you perform a domain lookup, your request is proxied through our server to the relevant RDAP registry (e.g., Verisign for .com, ARIN for IP lookups). The domain name you look up is transmitted to these third-party registries. Their privacy policies govern any data they may collect.

5. Data Retention

We do not maintain a database of user lookups. Server logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days for security and debugging purposes, after which they are automatically deleted.

6. Children's Privacy

FetchWhois is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights under laws such as GDPR or CCPA to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Since we store minimal personal data, most requests will result in confirmation that we hold no personal data linked to you. To make a request, get in touch using the button in the Contact section below.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
